With this year’s World Robotic Olympiad (WRO), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said that this could help promote the country to be one of major tourist destinations as it hosts the said event for the first time.
WRO will be from November 6 to 7 with the theme Robots Promote Tourism.
DOST’s Science Education Institute (SEI) is expecting 1,000 elementary and high school students from different countries to participate in the said event.
Director Ester Ogena of SEI said that since the country will be hosting this year’s WRO, this will showcase the country as an international conference site and tourist destination.
Moreover, this kind of competition is expected to enhance the interest of the youth in science and technology. [via philstar.com]
