To promote the technical and environmental suitability of wind turbines in an urban setting, the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) launched a wind turbine last November 23 at the City Environmental Management Office (CEMO) in Marikina City.
The event was graced by Mayor Marides Fernando and representatives from ITDI, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Japan-based International Center for Environmental Technology Transfer (ICETT). A trainers’ training was also conducted by experts from Loopwing Co., Ltd., manufacturer of the wind turbines.
The turbine is designed to harness the power of the wind in generating renewable energy. This will largely be tapped to supply electricity to Marikina’s composting facility at the CEMO compound.
Other wind turbines were set up at the compound of ITDI-DOST in Bicutan, Taguig City and Guaranfood, San Pablo City. [via businessmirror.com.ph]
