In line with the Bamboo Industry Development Project, a flagship first step of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office has heightened the reproduction and process of bamboo. Central Luzon intends to develop the project as a business model for the North Philippines that will be duplicated in Visayas and Mindanao.
The project business model is composed of 12 primary processing plants that can manufacture bamboo slats as raw materials for the engineered bamboo and center that will moreover manufacture the slats into engineered bamboo and fit together into bamboo school desks and other products.
Two possible primary processing plants were previously identified in the towns of Bagac and Mariveles in the province of Bataan. A project suggestion for the establishment of 7 primary processing plants in Central Luzon was previously referred for funding to National Economic Development Authority (NEDA).
